God’s Promise began as a vision of several members and their pastor
who opted out of traditional denominational church to begin a contemporary
nontraditional ministry that focused on the needs of the Sanford community -
a ministry that would change the City of Sanford and Greater Lee County in a
positive direction by focusing on education and community outreach. This vision
became a reality when, with the assistance of Pastors Harrison and Cathy Ray,
the first service of God’s Promise was held at God’s Fellowship Christian Center
in Broadway, NC. Over 30 individuals attended this 8:00 am service on April 1,
2012. Services were held in this location from April 2012 – August 2012.
Shortly after beginning services in Broadway, a building committee
was convened and members of the committee began looking at properties in
the Sanford area searching for a permanent location for the ministry. After
consideration of properties viewed, the congregation decided on the old Chef
Paul restaurant building located on East Main Street. Along with professional
contractors and electricians, church members labored long and hard to renovate
the old restaurant into a beautiful sanctuary and fellowship area. In August 2012
the congregation and pastor reaped the rewards of their labor and God’s Promise ministry began operating at its present location, 610 East Main Street, Sanford, NC.
Since its beginning, God’s Promise ministry has been committed to its
mission of community outreach.
God’s Promise ministry welcomes each and every individual to come to
church “as is.”
• We strive to be a ministry where people can have the assurance that they are
welcomed and loved just the way they are.
• We strive to make people feel the love of Jesus each and every time they
enter our doors.
• We strive to be a place where people can experience peace, comfort, and
love during troubling times.
• We believe that God is saving and delivering men and women, boys and
girls, so an individual may come in one way, but s/he will not leave that
way.
We thank God for all the blessings He has bestowed upon God’s Promise ministry and we praise Him for the blessings to come. To God Be the Glory!
